Cvetka Bevc
CVETKA BEVC (1960), Slovene poet, writer, screenwriter and musician majored in
Musicology and Comparative Literature from the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana and continued
studies at University College Cork. She is a member of the Slovene Writers' Association,
Slovene PEN Centre and the editing staff of Poetikon magazine.
She is the author of thirty radio plays and published over thirty books, author of scripts for
documentaries and feature-documentary films, writes prose, poetry, young adult and children
literature and dramatic works. She has participated in literary readings at home as well as
abroad (Europe, Australia, China, India …), the sellection of her works are translated in
different languages, recipient of many awards and nominations, among other: her novel
Potovci was one of the finalists for the 2012 Kresnik award for the best Slovenian novel, she
was nominated for award Večernica for children literature (Desetka, 2012) and nominated
four times for award Desetnica for the best Slovenian children book by Slovenian Writer’s
Association (2011, 2012, 2014, 2020). She is a recipient of the Silver Poet's Pen from the
international poetic festival Slovanski objem (Slavic Embrace, 2014) in Varna (Bolgaria) and
Fanny Hausmann Slovenian Award for the best cycle of poems (2020). She was also
nominated for Mira Prize of the women’s section of Slovenian PEN (2021) for the entire
literary work and recipient of award Kresnice for the best engaged, dedicated to women
poetry collection (2022). She was also Slovene writer awarded an International residency with
Otherwordsliterature in Dublin (2016).
