Never too late
Literary workshop Kordun, West Chester - Jun 10. 2022.
Poet Stanoje Stamenković celebrates his 84th birthday on June 12. One of the most beautiful surprises at the celebration will be his literary debut. A collection of poems that he collected from his youth, through years of schooling and hard work, and then through the emigrant life that brought him all the way to America, where he still lives today.
Stanoje was not educated in the social sciences, but his love of poetry never left him. In the years when he began to have more time to think than to work, he wished that his Pesmarica, which he diligently collected and kept in manuscript, became a real book that will remain as an eternal memory of a time of war childhood, peace, first love, migration and life far from homeland. The memories of Stanoje Stamenković are preserved in the book Poems of the Knight Janko, as a vow to his descendants and all lovers of the beautiful word.
The book was published by the Literary ESNAF in Belgrade, in May 2022, the editor was Ilija Shaula, and the review, was made by the writer Dr. Milutin Srbljak from New York.
To the pride of his numerous family, godparents and friends, Stanoje showed with this wonderful example that it is never too late to leave a written trace behind and that a person in life must never give up on what he truly wants to achieve.
The Kordun literary workshop joins in with the most sincere congratulations for the success and wishes that Stanoje Stamenković's debut will not be lonely, but that we will soon receive another book from his preserved manuscripts.
