CANADIAN GLACIERS
The Canadian north, with 105,000 km2 of glacial territory, is the second largest in the world, after Antarctica, under constant ice. Unfortunately, due to rapid climate change, it is in danger of rapidly melting and this part of nature will become devastating. The “Athabasca Glacier” is one of the six Colombian ice fields in Canada's Rocky Mountains. This glacier disappears over time, 5 m per year and has already disappeared about 1.5 km. As it is close to Jasper Park and Banff it is easily accessible. The edges of the glacier are easily accessible, but climbing on it is not recommended, due to hidden cracks. The glacier is 6 km long and covers an area of 6 km2, and its ice thickness is 90 to 300 m.
Glaciers in British Columbia and Alberta are of great natural importance, due to the waters they release during the warmer months. The chain of glaciers in Canada stretches for 1350 km and covers an area of about 170,000 km2. The highest peak of the glacier is "Robson peak", 3854 m above sea level. The largest ice field is "Columbia Icefield", 325 km2, and the Athabasca Glacier is the largest of the six ice sheets within Jasper Park. Although there is about 7 m of snowfall per year, it is slowly disappearing and it is calculated that it will completely disappear in 150 years. Currently, all glaciers in the world cover about 10% of the earth's surface (14.9 million km2). The two largest ice sheets are located at the Earth's poles, in Antarctica and the North Pole with Greenland.
Since the beginning of the earth, four glaciations (Glacier formation) have been known, and each lasted for about 100,000 years, and these periods were separated by long warm periods.
Glaciers in the valleys move at a speed of about 1 m / day. They are formed by compressing the ice, and due to the huge pressures in the cracks, they retain their blue color. The author had visited "Mendenhall Glacier” in Alaska in Alaska in 2008.

The coastal city and port of British Columbia, Vancouver, has about 600,000 inhabitants, as the eighth largest city in Canada. It is ethnically and linguistically different from other Canadian cities, with 52% of the population whose first spoken language is not English, predominantly Chinese. One of the greatest treasures of Vancouver is "Stanley Park", with an area of 1001 hectares, on the peninsula, surrounded by the ocean. - As my friend Vaso told me, it is as big as Slovenia. Stanley Park has long hiking and biking trails for walking and cycling, an aquarium, a lake and a rose garden. There are numerous "Totem Pillars" in the park, some of which were erected more than 100 years ago. Archaeological finds indicate the origin of the Aboriginal people here from 8 to 10 thousand years ago.
The climate in Vancouver is mild, but with many rainy periods. Greenpeace was born in Vancouver in 1971. Among the cities with the best living conditions, Vancouver ranks third in the world and is among the ten cleanest cities. Of the Vancouver population, 35% were not born in that city. Most of them are from China. In Vancouver, there is a pool with a length of 137.5 m, with a volume of three Olympic pools. Vancouver, together with Whistler, hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics, and hosted the 1986 “Expo”. Vancouver is home to Chinatown, the second largest city in the world, after San Francisco.
